Music Industry: Too Greedy For Own Good (Whats new?)
November 24, 2009 · Leave a Comment
The music industry is playing catch 22 with itself… or rather with anyone who actually wants to help it come out of the rut it finds itself in today. Honestly, these dinosaurs wouldn’t know a good idea if it jumped up and slept with their wives. Recording Industry Making It Impossible For Any Legit Online Music Service To Survive Without Being Too Expensive You just knew it would happen again. Every time the recording industry finally agrees to license a new music service to try to take the “sting” out of “piracy,” it demands licensing terms that are ridiculous.... [Read the full story]

Whats the best way to get everyone to vote for one your pet laws..? well, it kind of depends on the law you want passed by a few good lines that rarely fail: Blah blah blah… global warming… blah blah Blah blah blah… think of the children… blah blah Blah blah blah… or the terrorists win … blah blah Blah blah blah… with us or against us… blah blah Blah blah blah… millions of jobs lost… blah blah Dan (the Joker) Glickman has come up with a good new one “Simply put, those who don’t back the proposed Anti-Counterfeiting and Trade Agreement... Anti-P2P Laws Working?? Not Really.

Ars usually has a couple of really good articles when it comes to copyright, sadly this was not one of their best. The copyright industries regularly lie and falsely inflates statistics to show that ever strong legislation is needed, so its no surprise that they claim because of laws like IPRED the music industry is gaining consumers in Sweden. As a citizen of Sweden, residing in Stockholm, let me tell you – this cant be further from the truth. Is Sweden, the only country to have sent a member of the Pirate Party to the European Parliament, finally giving up its swashbuckling ways? When Sweden’s... [Read the full story]

Hollywood: ThePirateBay Tracker Is Not Dead-Its A Zombie!
November 19, 2009 · Leave a Comment
As most people already know, in what can be said to be an epic end of an era, ThePirateBay shut down it’s tracker… for ever. While TPB’s ex-admin Peter Sunde says the tracker was shut down because its time to move on to more de-centralized p2p and a tracker is no longer needed, rumors abound that it was done because of the impending October decision by a court in Sweden requiring the The Pirate Bay to either shut down, or remove all unauthorized copyrighted works or be fined up to U$D73,000. Whatever the reason, the fact of the matter is TPB’s tracker is no longer alive…... [Read the full story]

We love Google, heck we can’t name a single day in the past 3 years (or more) that we have not used their search… and we love Youtube, we find ourselves increasingly using the online streaming service instead of downloading pirated content (again, just goes to show: if there are viable alternatives even the most hard core ‘pirates’ see no reason to illegally download) which is the same pattern we noticed once Spotify hit Sweden and we scored ourselves a few free accounts. Back on topic, Google’s much publicized motto has always been (or so they tell us) : Don’t... [Read the full story]

Apple Trying Not To Give iPhone’s Source Code
November 24, 2009 · Leave a Comment
Here’s a bunch of folks who really need all the luck they can get… because they are trying to get the source code for for the iphone: from Apple! Then there’s the small matter of slapping Apple with a class action lawsuit… We have a love hate relationship with class action lawsuits, it seems that the lawyers make most of the money and very little actually trickles down to the people affected, that being said the companies get (rightfully) bitch slapped… We would love it if that system came to Europe, flawed as it may be , its a huge stick to hold over the heads of...
